Nadia Comaneci, (born November 12th of November, 1961 Gheorghe Gheorghiu-Dej (now Onesti(born November 12, 1961 in Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej, now One Romania) Romanian gymnast who was the first gymnast in history to be awarded a perfect score of 10 during the Olympic competition. Bela Karrolyi, an Romanian gymnastics teacher who later became Comaneci's coach, first discovered Comaneci at the age of six. Comaneci participated for the first time in the 1969 national junior championships, placing 13th. The following year she was crowned champion. In her first international competition in 1972 at a pre-Olympic Junior event for countries of the communist bloc she was awarded three gold medals. Then in 1973 and 1974, she was an the all-around junior champion. When she competed for the first time at the senior level, Lyudmila Turkishcheva, a Russian athlete, won five gold medals as well as one silver. She became the first female to perform a reverse double salo on the parallel bar that was uneven in the event she won American Cup, New York City 1976. Carol Wayne.........................Carol Wayne was an American film and TV actor best recognized for portraying Art Fern's Tea-Time Movie Lady on The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson. She started her career in the entertainment industry during her teenage years performing as an ice skating duo along with the sister Nina Wayne for the travelling entertainment show Ice Capades. Carol Marie Wayne was a born on 6th September 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Carol began her career in the entertainment business as a teenager. Her first professional gig was figure skating along with Nina Wayne, her younger sister as part of traveling entertainment show Ice Capades. They featured dramatic skating on ice shows.
